So the big giants have also forayed into the solar fever- of course we’ve heard about Sharp being the leader in solar cell production entering into solar products- but they just announced entry into the big consumer electronics category- LVD TV. Yes they just launched a solar powered LCD TV! It is a 26-inch LCD Aquos TV that comes along with triple-junction thin-film solar cell modules. Not surprisingly, the solar cell modules are from Ssarp and appear as big as the television’s screen. The big question is what is the target market? Apparently they are targeting the rural, electricity deficient markets- but we are not too sure- maybe just a tube TV might have been more affordable for those markets? Maati has not yet started selling LCD TVs but there are some high in demand solar powered cool backpacks and a casio g-shock watch that’s solar too! And that just two products we could think of as of now!
